This charming and highly decorative piece is a 19th century French version of the ancient Roman figure in terracotta (see image attached). It depicts a young girl playing with a set of knucklebones, a form of game or gambling dice popular from ancient times. This model is included (with illustration) in the 1886 Barbedienne catalogue - we can supply a copy if required. It has a lovely patina and is in excellent condition. An ideal shelf piece or office paperweight. Height 14cms. Stamped Barbedienne Fondeur and Collas reduction mark.
