Bronze Faun of Pompeii
Bronze Dancing Faun, after the original which was uncovered in Pompeii in 1830. A Grand Tour piece, quality cast, weight over 2kgs, with good detail and patina. Unlike most versions of the Pompeii Faun, this bronze differs slightly from the original as evidenced by the addition of a fig leaf in order to minimise Victorian embarrassment. Height 36.5 cms. Circa 1880 - 1900.
