Barbedienne Plaque
Art Nouveau bronze celebration plaque by Barbedienne. The bronze is signed “F.Barbedienne” also “Dubois” and “Chapu”. Both the latter French 19th cent. sculptors. Diameter is 25.5 cms. The design is a representation of the French national heroine Marianne, a symbol of the French republic. It was designed by Dubois/Chapu as a medal for the Union of gymnastic societies of France.
